CONCERT DIARY

Activities	The MJBO was formed in 2005 by Andrew Kerensky, a local music teacher, who wanted to establish a big band in the tradition of the Swing bands of the golden era - but also incorporating modern popular music as well. We are a happy bunch of musicians who enjoy making music in a group setting. Our community orchestra is open to musicians of all ages who are keen to play great music in a band setting; the only way to improve is to come along regularly. It’s advisable for newcomers to be around grade 3-5 ability. Guitarists should be able to follow a chord sheet and drummers need to be able to read drum notation, although not all percussionists need to be readers. Over the last 12-18 months we have also established smaller ensembles drawn from the full band, who perform in more intimate venues (see events programme below).
